How to get published?

What does a person need to do to get published? To actually get a book out there into book stores? I’ve read a myriad blogs and posts and many, many manuscript submission guidelines posted by publishers, mostly Indian publishers because I’m from India, but have concluded that it’s a really tedious process.

I have hope for my work since at least one story I’ve written has touched many people; the responses the post are proof enough that I can put forth a compelling story. The other conclusion I’ve reached is to write from the heart. I wish there was an easier way to get published. Self publishing is an option, but there are many intricacies to do that too. I can, of course, choose to pay a publisher that helps a writer get self published, for a fee starting from around Rs. 40,000 at the least and going upwards, depending on the package I choose. I’m still at odds with doing that.

I have a few stories, some ideas that I feel will make a compelling novel and while I spin the tales (all based on stuff that really happens), I’m still trying to figure out how to get a contract from a publisher.

I write because I like to write, but there is another agenda, or rather, two—to get published and to make some money, naturally.

Ideas anyone?

I guess the only advice here can be - keep writing, keep polishing your stories, keep submitting them to contests and agencies, don't get discouraged by rejections because eventually everyone gets them.

Have faith in your gift and everything will be fine :)

Good luck!

PS: I feel that self-publishing is something people go for when they lose all the hope.

revenge ink is a publishing name that looks to help upcoming writers, who have good, unconventional and path breaking stories, that very few other publishing houses dare to take a chance on.

give it a shot.
