Trying to get on with writing the book

It has been 6 months since I started writing full-time and I still haven’t been able to finish my own book. While ghostwriting and other freelance writing/work has kept me busy, my books are still struggling through the first few chapters. I have shelved one (light reading) for a while focusing on another, closer to me heart. Although I promised myself that I would dedicate at least two hours in a day to get the draft ready, I’m stuck on the 4th chapter (almost done).

Before jumping too far into the future, I know I should have a book complete before even attempting to contact a publisher; yet, there’s a part of me that wants an editor to read it and offer me a contract for it. Is this too impossible a dream?

There are so many wonderful authors out there and a large number of unappreciated, unsold, good authors too (I’m sure); so, why would anyone want to read, poor old me? I still like to dream and dream big. Perhaps the day will come (soon) when I’ll make it.

Languishing in anonymity, self doubt and pain is the much needed gestation of a good work. Every author has done his time. If you are good at what you do, just keep at it. Things will change.
